The Australian Communications Consumer Action Network (ACCAN), Australia’s peak national consumer advocacy organisation for communications, is looking for an experienced Social Media and Content Officer to help elevate our online profile and brand to the next level. This position offers flexible hours, up to 30–35 per week. ACCAN welcomes applications from candidates seeking contract, casual, or part‑time work arrangements. The successful candidate will report to the Media and Communications Officer. A remuneration package commensurate with the skills and experience of the successful candidate will be negotiated. If you’re passionate about creating impactful digital content, driving engagement, and making a difference for communications consumers, we’d love to hear from you. Responsibilities Create engaging, responsive and high-quality content that builds the profile and influence of ACCAN. Develop and execute creative and bold social media content strategies that engage our audience. Use analytics to measure the effectiveness of our content and inform future strategies. Collaborate with our team to ensure accurate information and consistent messaging across all channels. Stay up to date with the latest content trends and best practices. Maintain an interest in Australian technology, telecommunications and political news, and demonstrate this in your work. Qualifications You’re a bold and imaginative content creator who knows how to make ideas stand out. You understand how to turn complex policy priorities into clear, engaging messages that cut through on social media. You’re proactive, accountable, and confident leading digital strategy — from planning campaigns to creating content that drives meaningful engagement and visibility. You have experience managing social media accounts for an organisation or brand, applying digital marketing principles to grow reach and impact. You’re comfortable developing website content, optimising posts for different platforms, and using data to guide strategy. You can balance creativity with analytical thinking, managing multiple priorities independently while keeping sight of the bigger picture. You bring a strong sense of design and storytelling, with the ability to create visuals and short‑form videos that connect with audiences. Ideally, you’ll have qualifications or experience in communications, digital marketing, media, or a related field, and you’re confident using tools like Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, and social media management software. Experience with SEO copywriting and short‑form video production will be highly regarded.
