About The Opportunity We are seeking a Library Technician to join our team at Mt Druitt Library on a permanent, part‑time basis. As part of our Customer Service team, you will play an important role in creating positive experiences and fostering a welcoming environment for all library visitors. Key Responsibilities Provide outstanding customer service to all library visitors, ensuring a welcoming and inclusive environment Deliver high‑quality, community‑focused programs that engage and inspire diverse audiences Collaborate effectively with colleagues to support the smooth operation of library services Assist customers in accessing the full range of library resources, including digital tools and online platforms Communicate clearly and professionally with people from different backgrounds and age groups Apply well‑developed technology skills to help customers navigate information systems and digital services Contribute to maintaining a safe, respectful, and family‑friendly environment within the library Draw on knowledge of cultural trends to shape relevant programs and services that meet community needs Qualifications and Experience Library Technician Diploma, Associate Diploma or equivalent, as recognised by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) Previous library experience Demonstrated strong commitment to a customer‑focused service Excellent communication skills, both oral and written Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment and independently Well‑developed problem‑solving skills Relevant computer skills Current class C driver’s licence Working with Children Check number Desirable First aid certification Ability to speak a community language Remuneration and Benefits The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement. Entry level for this position starts at $1,362.15 per week, pro‑rata 17.5 hour working week Employee benefits such as leave entitlements (where applicable), 12% employer contribution payable to your nominated superannuation fund, Fitness Passport, gym membership discounts, and social clubs This position has been identified as child related work, in accordance with the Child Protection (Working with Children) Regulation 2013 .
