ASC is Australia’s submarine company. We built the Royal Australian Navy’s Collins Class submarines, sustain them, and are now delivering their Life of Type Extension to increase the boats’ service lives. We have also been selected by the Australian Government to sustain and jointly build the nation’s nuclear‑powered submarines – the largest and most complex industrial undertaking in Australia’s history. About the Opportunity Reporting to the Head of Innovation and Improvement, the Knowledge Manager is accountable for developing and overseeing the Knowledge Management (KM) strategy and leading the implementation and continuous improvement of KM practices in support of ASC’s pathway to nuclear readiness. You will work collaboratively across the Transfer of Technology (ToT) and Innovation functions within the Nuclear Capability and Development business unit to drive the development and delivery of sustainable and ever‑improving KM elements across the full KM lifecycle (capture, organise, store, retrieve, share, utilise, learn, divest). Candidates with KM experience gained in the defence and/or nuclear sector will be viewed favourably. Responsibilities Lead the design and implementation of ASC’s KM strategy, framework, and governance structures, in close collaboration with the Head of Innovation and Improvement and cross‑functional stakeholders. Ensure KM practices and processes are aligned with organisational goals, regulatory requirements, policies, and standards, providing consistency, compliance and sustainability. Design and implement processes for capturing, codifying and sharing tacit and explicit knowledge across the organisation. Promote the acquisition of external knowledge through structured mechanisms (via recruitment, consultants, ToT, etc.). Leverage ASC’s digital tools to support effective KM practices and collaborate with Digital Tools Governance and IT to identify and realise future KM digital tool opportunities. Drive KM culture by embedding KM practices into daily operations, continuous improvement initiatives and leadership behaviours. Conduct KM maturity assessments and develop performance metrics to monitor progress and inform continuous improvement. Assist in the design and structure of the future‑state KM team. About You Relevant tertiary qualifications (e.g., Information Science, Engineering, Business Information Systems) or equivalent experience. Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing KM strategy and frameworks in complex, regulated or high‑risk environments. Postgraduate qualifications in Knowledge Management, Organisational Development or similar are advantageous. High proficiency with KM platforms and tools (e.g., SharePoint, Confluence) and strategic understanding of how digital tools and emerging technologies can enhance KM practices. Proven ability to lead change, influence across business units, and embed KM in organisational culture. Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build trust and mutual understanding and to drive collaboration. Experience with taxonomy development, metadata standards and content lifecycle management. This role requires a current National Police Clearance, an Australian Defence Security Clearance and an ability to access protected US defence technology. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearances and approvals. Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible. To check your eligibility please visit the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency website. Benefits Six weeks of annual leave. Flexibility over how, when and where you work for the best work/life balance. Generous parental leave so you can give your family the focus it deserves. Subsidised childcare to ease the financial pressure on your family and much more. About ASC Established in 1985, ASC’s 1900‑plus staff offer a depth of submarine design, project management, supply chain, construction and engineering experience and expertise that is unparalleled in Australia’s defence industry. The company’s work on Australia’s nuclear‑powered submarine build and the Collins Class Life of Type Extension takes place in Osborne, South Australia, with sustainment shared across Osborne and Henderson, Western Australia. ASC also plays a leading role in training Royal Australian Navy submariners. Apply today for a career with a deeper purpose. Taperoo, South Australia, Australia #J-18808-Ljbffr
