Cloud Engineer

Step into a growing platform team where you’ll have real influence over architecture, plenty of variety in your work, and the space to build things properly. We’re looking for an experienced Cloud Engineer (Azure) to join our 6-person Platform team as we expand. You’ll be one of the key people designing, building and operating our cloud infrastructure, with a strong focus on : Azure (including AKS) Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) Automation & reliability This role would suit someone who started in traditional on-prem systems engineering (servers, networking, storage, virtualisation) and has since gained strong cloud experience. You’ll be hands‑on, senior enough to lead some technical work and influence architecture, and comfortable troubleshooting complex issues end‑to‑end. We support our business that builds a lot of software in‑house and has an evolving AI practice, so there’s plenty of opportunity to work on interesting, modern problems. And we’re a generalist platform team that works collaboratively, so you’ll get to work across a broad range of technologies rather than being siloed. What you’ll be doing Design, build and manage secure, scalable and reliable Azure infrastructure Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (primarily Terraform) Automate deployments, configuration, patching and operational tasks Collaborate closely with developers and other teams Build and manage software‑defined infrastructure, including networking, storage, compute and container platforms Design and support highly available, fault‑tolerant platforms Troubleshoot complex issues and incidents across cloud, networking, OS, virtualisation and application layers, and drive well thought‑out solutions Contribute to backup (Commvault) and help improve disaster recovery planning, implementation and testing Maintain a strong security focus What the team says are the highlights Genuinely collaborative team – we swarm on issues together; you’re never left alone to struggle Solutions‑focused culture – we care about doing things properly, not just ticking boxes and chasing deadlines; your ideas will be heard IaC & automation first – Terraform, cloud infra, and growing opportunities to use AI in day‑to‑day work Broad exposure – generalist platform work across servers, HA, networking, storage, cloud, monitoring and more; opportunities to broaden into new areas Learning & growth – we’re always evolving our practices, tools and technology Real impact – your decisions will directly shape our cloud platforms and how the business delivers software and AI solutions About you You’re a capable engineer who enjoys owning problems and improving systems, not just keeping the lights on. You’ll likely bring : Strong hands‑on experience with Azure Solid experience with Infrastructure as Code, especially Terraform Strong background in automation (e.g. PowerShell, Ansible, scripting) Experience working with Microsoft Server technologies, SQL MI, virtualisation, networking (Zscaler), backups Understanding of change control and source control (we use Azure DevOps) Are collaborative and enjoy working closely with others to solve problems Take pride in well thought‑out solutions and good engineering practice Are comfortable leading on some tasks / projects and providing technical input into architecture Enjoy mentoring and knowledge sharing within a team Are curious and keen to keep learning as our tooling and practices evolve About Liberty Helping people is in our DNA.
