Senior Mental Health Clinician - SESLHD MHS Permanent Part Time – 24 hours per week Location: Randwick, Sydney | Requisition ID: REQ | Application close date: 4 January 2026 Remuneration: $57.30 - $69.84 per hour, plus superannuation Position Classification: Clinical Psychologist, Occupational Therapist Level 3, Social Worker Level 3 Overview An exciting part‑time opportunity has arisen for an experienced senior mental health clinician to join and work in a multidisciplinary team as a member of the new SESLHD Safeguards North Team transforming young lives. You will work across the local catchment area, collaborating with existing CAMHS and youth mental health teams. From assertive outreach and brief care co‑ordination to time‑limited therapeutic interventions, you’ll support young people and their families experiencing a mental health crisis. As a Safeguards Community Clinician, you’ll deliver evidence‑based, impactful care, including individual, family, parenting and group therapy. Collaborating with schools, community organisations and non‑government services, you’ll be at the forefront of creating holistic solutions that empower young people and their families. Responsibilities Deliver evidence‑based individual, family, parenting and group therapy to children and adolescents aged 0‑17 years. Provide assertive outreach and brief care coordination within a mobile and flexible care model. Design and implement short‑ and medium‑term treatment protocols for common presenting problems such as anxiety. Collaborate with schools, community organisations, and non‑government services to create holistic solutions. Initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes. Qualifications & Selection Criteria For Occupational Therapy and Social Work: Qualifications in accordance with Schedule C of the NSW Health Service Health Professionals (State) Award and current registration with AHPRA or eligibility for membership with AASW. Clinical psychologists require full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA), with endorsement in clinical psychology (or eligibility to progress towards same), plus a minimum two‑year full‑time APAC‑accredited postgraduate Masters or Doctorate degree in clinical psychology. Demonstrated experience in the provision and evaluation of evidence‑based psychosocial assessment, therapeutic intervention, and evaluation of clinical outcomes with children, adolescents, young people and their families in a systemic way. Capacity to design and implement short and medium‑term, individual and group treatment protocols for commonly presenting problems (such as anxiety) for children and adolescents experiencing social and emotional distress. Excellent negotiation, decision‑making and advocacy skills, including the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders at all organisational levels. Demonstrated ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes. Ability to provide in‑depth advice and education to enhance service delivery and to guide and support others in providing service excellence. Ability to work as part of a multi‑disciplinary team and to apply advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgement when dealing with situations of a novel, complex or critical nature.
