Field Officer Grade 1-2 A unique opportunity for part‑time, casual Field Officer 1‑2 with the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) to work as part of a team and contribute towards the conservation of the natural environment, flora, fauna and Aboriginal heritage. Location: Scone or Gloucester. Salary: $30.84 to $33.85 per hour depending on skills and experience, plus applicable casual loading. About The Role Assists with construction, maintenance and improvements to park assets within NPWS parks and reserves, and the maintenance of heritage buildings and structures. Undertakes pest, weed and fire management activities, including those in remote areas. Operates and maintains appropriate plant and equipment. Responds to visitor enquiries and may assist with compliance activities. Serves camping and day‑use areas. Contributes to ensuring obligations and aims are met through the enhancement and preservation of the natural and cultural heritage values of parks. Assists in the completion of works programmes to ensure that the public has access to appropriately maintained and safe recreational facilities. About You Experience and skills in outdoor work with a passion for community and environment. A strong attention to detail, safety and team player ability. Fitness and enthusiasm to thrive in a diverse role. Availability for mid‑week and weekend work, often at short notice. Essential Requirements Current Australian Class C drivers licence or equivalent, and ability to drive 4WD vehicles. Ability to obtain and use MR Licence where appropriate. Experience and ability to carry out all duties safely and obtain relevant SafeWork NSW certification for plant and equipment, including conditional registered vehicles, watercraft (non‑coxswain), lifting apparatus and minor road maintenance plant. Ability and willingness to obtain a First Aid certificate. Certification, or ability to obtain certification within the probationary period (up to 12 months), for operating a chainsaw to cross‑cut or basic tree‑felling standard; ability to operate two‑way radio. Ability to carry out frontline firefighting duties and support roles, including obtaining and maintaining certification as a crew member within the probationary period and willingness to fly in light aircraft. Field Officer applicants must meet the requirements of a firefighting medical inclusive of clearance to undertake frontline firefighting roles, and must pass the task‑based fitness assessment to a moderate level within the probationary period and annually thereafter.
