Victim Response Officer – UnitingCare Queensland UnitingCare Queensland is hiring a Victim Response Officer to support the Victims of Crime Community Recovery (VOCCR) program. The role is a casual opportunity, with flexible shifts that fall within our 24/7 service hours. Employment Term: Casual Opportunity Service Hours: Monday to Thursday 5 pm–9 am, Friday 4 pm–Monday 9 am (including public holidays); full availability is not required—reasonable variety of coverage is sufficient. Location: Remote and onsite opportunities available in Ipswich & Logan, Rockhampton, Cairns, andsville. On‑site roles may involve travel for outreach but can largely be performed from home. Remuneration: From $63.75 p/h (including casual loading) + Super + NFP Salary Packaging Close Date: Applications will be reviewed as they are received. About the Program The VOCCR program is a short‑term intervention model that delivers individual support in the critical days after a serious violent crime. Through immediate brokerage and referrals, we facilitate long‑term recovery for victims, their families, and witnesses, operating 24/7 in Cairns, Townsville, Rockhampton, Logan, and Ipswich. Your role Operates within a trauma‑informed framework, providing intake and assessment, immediate and practical support to victims, families, and witnesses. Balances phone and face‑to‑face engagement, ensuring timely intervention and collaborative support to meet urgent client needs. Schedules shifts flexibly within the specified service hours. What makes a difference for us? Tertiary qualification in a relevant field (e.g., Social Work, Psychology, Social Science) and a minimum of 5 years relevant experience. Extensive and diverse experience can be considered where formal qualifications are limited. Demonstrated experience in trauma‑informed practice, crisis response, case management, and/or mental health support. Strong communication, listening, and advocacy skills, with the ability to interact respectfully with diverse socioeconomic and cultural groups. Ability to manage change, difficult situations, and provide viable solutions. Personal resilience to sustain work that may involve vicarious trauma. Commitment to victim‑led recovery and satisfaction. Current driver’s licence. Working with Children Check (Blue Card). Flexibility to pick up shifts during service hours.
