Automation Technician

Permanent position - 7 /7 roster, 12hour shifts, Nights and Days Based at new Centre of Excellence facility in Perth Work in small, high performing team. About the role You will be joining a small team of experienced technicians that monitor, maintain, troubleshoot, replace, rebuild, and repair both automated and manual sample preparation equipment. The equipment includes, but is not limited to, manual LM5 and LM2 pulverizers, jaw crushers, CRB crushers and robotic systems. Other plant equipment includes dedusting systems, compressors, wastewater treatment facilities, as well as laboratory equipment including fusion machines and TGA’s. Duties Carry out daily preventative maintenance tasks on all the equipment listed in the About the Role section. This includes equipment checklists such as checking safety interlocks, greasing bearings, checking belt tensions, recording bearing temperatures, cleaning equipment, changing out crusher wear plates, replacing milling grinding bowls, etc. Troubleshoot and fault‑find both manual and automated equipment, identifying mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and other faults. Strip, assess and report findings on failed equipment. Rebuild failed equipment using mechanical and electrical schematics. Perform mill rebuilds, including eccentric mass, bearings, seals, pulleys, shafts, etc. Conduct crusher rebuilds, involving multiple eccentric shafts, bearings, seals, as well as wear and cheek plates. Maintain automated cell equipment, including sensors, switches, PLCs, motors, pneumatic components, and more. Travel to various remote laboratory sites to repair breakdowns of equipment and systems, assist in commissioning and decommissioning project sites, and provide on‑site support. Qualifications / Experience / Skills WA Restricted electrical license. High level of mechanical knowledge and proven experience. Machine strip and rebuild experience. Problem‑solving skills for mechanical faults. Fitting and replacing heavy bowls and crusher plates. Understanding and interpretation of pneumatics, engineering drawings and equipment schematics to a high level. Ability to work in a team and autonomously. Strong communication skills.
