John Pearson Consulting Group – Maroochydore QLD Five Bridges is a not-for-profit supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities through community‑led programs. We focus on sustainable support, cultural safety, and justice solutions. Five Bridges auspices the Maroochydore Community Justice Group (MCJG), providing administrative, financial and human resources support to enable the MCJG to conduct their core business in line with the MCJG’s developed Strategic and Operational Plans. Position Purpose The Empowering Our Mob (EOM) Project Officer will strengthen cultural connections, support healing, and assist Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals in navigating justice pathways through mentorship, advocacy, and case management. This position is part‑time with 4 working days per week. Key Responsibilities Foster cultural identity and empowerment, providing mentoring and cultural education and organising Men’s and Women’s Yarning Circles and associated activities. Coordinate services (e.g., mental health, housing, legal) and develop personalised action plans. Mentor participants, assist with barriers, and advocate for their rights within the justice system. Build relationships with stakeholders and represent MCJG at events. Maintain records, evaluate participant progress, and report outcomes to meet funding body requirements. Provide engagement reports to the courts, ensuring participants’ progress is communicated within legal proceedings. Support participants at court proceedings. Key Skills & Attributes Cultural competency: strong understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. Passion for supporting local communities and promoting healing. Experience supporting individuals through complex systems. Strong engagement skills and ability to navigate challenges. Organisational skills: sound administration, record keeping, time management, and case coordination ability. Qualifications & Experience Must identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander. Community-based case management experience. Knowledge of justice system challenges such as mental health, inter-generational trauma, and substance abuse issues. Current driver’s licence, reliable transport, and a Positive Notice Blue Card (or willingness to apply). Desirable Certificate III in Community Services, Youth Work, or related field.
