Population Health Promotion Officer at Western Health – Sunshine Hospital. Employment Type: Full-Time, Ongoing. Salary: Health Promotion Officer Grade 2 + Superannuation + Salary Packaging. Overview Join a dynamic public health team as a Health Promotion Officer in Food Systems, designing, implementing and evaluating population-level healthier eating and food system initiatives to support primary prevention. This permanent role will work collaboratively with local government and community health organisations in the West of Melbourne to deliver place-based initiatives using collective impact and systems-thinking approaches, aligned with the WPHU Catchment Plan, WPHU Action Guide, and Victorian Public Health and Wellbeing Plan. Key Responsibilities Lead the design, implementation and evaluation of healthy eating and food system initiatives in partnership with key stakeholders, with support from the Population Health Senior Lead. Coordinate catchment-wide and place-based prevention and population health promotion initiatives. Proactively connect with partners on best practice, keeping abreast of current evidence, policies, legislations and advancements in relevant topic. Build and sustain strong relationships with a network of key internal and external stakeholders to facilitate and foster their involvement in the development and implementation of population health promotion initiatives. Provide strategic advice on matters relating to prevention, population health promotion principles and approaches to systems thinking, collective impact and community engagement. Work collaboratively in a team, contribute to team planning and positive work culture. Contribute to partner engagement, monitoring and reporting activities. About You You are a proactive and adaptive public health professional with at least 3 years’ experience in leading the planning, implementation and evaluation of a moderate-sized population health project or initiative. You bring healthy eating and food systems experience and are recognised, or eligible to become, an Australian Practising Dietitian (APD). You work effectively with stakeholders to build strong and trusted relationships, managing complex and sensitive situations. You have a solid understanding of contemporary health promotion practice and are able to apply systems thinking, collective impact, and settings and place-based approaches in real-world contexts. You have strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing, presentations and facilitation, with excellent attention to detail and evidence. You effectively manage workloads and competing priorities to deliver high-quality work. You bring a growth-mindset and seek professional and personal growth through feedback.
