Western Sydney Local Health District is seeking a motivated and organised Health Promotion Project Officer to support the delivery of innovative, evidence-based initiatives that embed prevention into everyday clinical and primary care practice. Reporting to the Senior Health Promotion Officer, you’ll play a key role in addressing health determinants and reducing modifiable risk factors such as poor nutrition, physical inactivity, smoking, and vaping within our local health system. Employment Details Employment Type: Temporary Full Time (up to 30/06/2026) Position Classification: Health Education Officer Graduate Remuneration: $37.48 - $59.89 per hour Hours Per Week: 38 Location: Cumberland Hospital Where you'll be working Based at Cumberland Hospital, you will join a dynamic and purpose-driven team within Population Health, Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD). You’ll be part of a team that: Champions community-focused prevention and health promotion programs Values collaboration, shared learning and high-quality service delivery Works closely with government, non-government and local community partners Is dedicated to reducing health inequalities across priority populations Supports professional growth and continuous development What you'll be doing In this role, you’ll help coordinate and implement state-wide and local prevention programs in western Sydney, working closely with clinicians, primary care providers, and other stakeholders. You’ll assist with planning, monitoring, and evaluating initiatives to ensure they are effective and aligned with best practice. A key focus will be building the capacity of health professionals to integrate prevention into routine care, with a strong emphasis on improving outcomes for our culturally diverse communities and reducing health inequities. Your efforts will also contribute to state-wide prevention strategies, helping to reduce chronic disease and promote health equity across WSLHD. Selection Criteria Relevant tertiary qualifications at graduate level or above in population health, health promotion, public health or other relevant areas. Project management skills including demonstrated ability to plan, implement, evaluate and disseminate a population health project report on the outcomes of a project. Demonstrated capacity to establish and maintain partnerships with community, government and business organisations and agencies, and facilitate collaborative action. High level written and oral communication skills; computer skills; and negotiation and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to analyse, understand and work with, and within, a range of systems, sectors and agencies to implement change. Demonstrated capacity to work effectively in a cross cultural context, particularly with members of the Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander community and Culturally & Linguistically Diverse communities. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Current Drivers Licence valid within Australia.
