Population Health Division is responsible for addressing primary and secondary disease prevention within the local community through Health Promotion, HIV and Related Programs Multicultural Health. This role is dedicated to improving sexual health and blood borne virus (BBV) outcomes for Aboriginal people, including those who identify as LGBTIQ+. You will lead the development and implementation of initiatives that address sexual health, BBV prevention and testing, and tackle stigma and discrimination associated with these issues. A key focus will be supporting harm reduction strategies for people who inject drugs. As part of the BBV and Sexual Health Promotion Team, you will work collaboratively with Population Health, Aboriginal Health, and other teams across the Local Health District. Building strong partnerships with Aboriginal community organisations and government stakeholders will be central to your success. What you will bring to the role This is an identified Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander position and, as such, applicants must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent, identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander in their local community, and possess the requisite cultural knowledge. NBMLHD considers that being Aboriginal is genuine occupational qualification under Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW). Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field, such as health promotion, sexual health, population health, or education; or experience working in sexual health, blood borne viruses and/or youth health promotion. Sound knowledge of Aboriginal sexual health needs and issues and the individual and social impacts of blood borne viruses and STIs. Demonstrated ability and experience in the design, delivery and evaluation of evidence-based community education projects and initiatives. Demonstrated strong interpersonal, teamwork, written and oral communication skills and high-level computer literacy. Demonstrated ability to work in partnership with community, government and non-government organisations to achieve outcomes in health promotion. Strong organisational, prioritisation, and time management skills. Valid unrestricted drivers' licence for use in NSW/Australia and willingness to travel in the course of employment.
