Join to apply for the Court Registry Officer role at Public Defence Service - New Zealand Te Haeata / The Opportunity As a Court Registry Officer, you are an important cog in the justice machine. You will work with a team responsible for the successful operation of the Court and liaise with multiple stakeholders including members of the judiciary, lawyers, and the public. Job Description Court Registry Officer, Wellington You'll enjoy the diversity of duties with tasks that include but are not limited to: Case management – ensuring files are accurate and up to date, involving data entry and sound decision‑making. Court taking – running the court, opening sessions (in English and Te Reo Māori), working closely with the Judiciary in the courtroom and in chambers, and general administration. Customer Service – interacting with customers on any court‑related matter via face‑to‑face, phone or email. There are two permanent positions available. Successful candidates will likely be appointed to the family/civil jurisdiction team. There may also be opportunities to travel on occasion to support other courts in the Wellington Region or wider. To Be Successful, You Will Need To Be Resilient – able to handle sensitive cases and high volumes at a fast pace. Detail orientated and observant – ensuring case information is accurate. Self‑aware – confident in understanding customers and navigating various situations maturely and positively. Multi‑task – able to manage conflicting priorities and shift quickly between tasks. Willing to learn – adaptable to changing legislation and processes, responsive to feedback. You will be an excellent communicator with good English and confident Te Reo Māori pronunciation. Confidence using audio‑visual equipment is also desirable. You enjoy helping others, are flexible, calm, and unfazed by the busy courtroom environment. Salary The remuneration band for this role is $59,729 to $80,794 – the appointing salary will be based on skills and experience.
