There are no specific qualifications needed, it's your life experience that counts in this role. $8,000 sign-on bonus New prison officers are now eligible for a sign-on bonus of up to $8,000. Six months after commencing, you will receive a payment of $4,000. Then, after one year’s full-time employment, you will receive an additional payment of $4,000. Most people in custody return to the community, and the focus of a prison officer is to create opportunities for them to make better decisions. It’s a challenging yet rewarding role and is considered one of the best kept secrets in all of Victoria.
