Base pay range A$95, / yr - A$105, / yr Department overview The production department manages the production and technical requirements for each of the venues and events run by Century Group. The department consists of 3 senior positions (Technical Manager, Production HR Manager and Production Manager). These roles work closely together to deliver outcomes for the group's venues, events and projects identified by senior management. This role services The Concourse Performing Arts Centre in Chatswood. Key responsibilities and duties Develop and manage production / technical requirements including scheduling, operations and logistical requirements in accordance with Century Venues procedures and policies to achieve successful delivery of events. Create, manage and control budgets (expenses) for staging of events / activities; ensure necessary production equipment, materials and expenses are within allocated budget. Ensure venue resources (labour and assets) are used efficiently, maximising internal use of equipment and recovering labour costs where possible. Manage team of Production Coordinators : assign work, advise on strategies to deliver high service levels, and seek opportunities to increase revenues. Develop and manage Standard Operating Procedures and associated workflows for the Production Coordinators. Advance and assist with complex event production requirements; quote and assist in winning new opportunities and conduct site inspections. Train and develop production coordinators' skills and knowledge; maximise revenue and profit for the department. Assist during heavy-event periods administratively and in the field. Collaborate with the Technical Manager and HR Manager to deliver highest possible standards to clients and patrons. Organisation relationships Reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer Liaises with Heads of Department and Senior Century Management Accountability The position is accountable to the Chief Operating Officer. Reviewable KPIs Staff satisfaction and productivity Meeting budgeted amounts for technical production, sales and gross profit margins A maximum of 3 client complaints per year with positive client responses outpacing negative by a factor of 3 Extent of authority Work autonomously. Make decisions regarding staff management, promotion, training and dismissal. Liaise and negotiate with clients as required and make financial decisions from those negotiations. Supervise full-time staff to meet client and event requirements and improve productivity and financial outcomes. Judgement and decision-making Exercise high levels of knowledgeable judgment. The position has a high level of decision-making with the Technical department operating autonomously under Production Manager leadership while following established systems and procedures. Specialist knowledge and skills Extensive experience in operation of Audio, Lighting or Stage Management. Good knowledge of all aspects of technical production; keep knowledge current with industry standards. Proven ability to manage and supervise technical staff. Proven knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety procedures and best practices in the industry. Management skills Demonstrated and proven track record in time management and delegation Operational effectiveness : managing a department to maximise efficient use of labour and equipment Financial acumen : running a department on budget and meeting budget targets Staff management and workflow prioritisation Policy, systems and procedures adherence and contribution Negotiation skills and ability to engage with others Effective communication and teamwork; openness to change Service orientation and professional maturity Qualifications and experiences Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience in a theatre, production company or related industry is considered necessary. Selection criteria Criteria based on items 7 to 10 above. Salary Negotiable. A$85,000 to A$95,000 pending experience.
