The Catholic Diocese of Maitland – Newcastle NSW The Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle is seeking an experienced and motivated Project Manager to join our Property Services team. In this role, you will help deliver a range of major and minor projects across the Diocese and support the ongoing maintenance of our assets. Working alongside the Construction Manager and Manager of Strategic Assets, you will manage projects from inception to completion, coordinating planning, delivery, stakeholder engagement, and reporting. You’ll also prepare tenders for minor works and construction projects, oversee budgets and timelines, and confidently represent project interests with internal and external stakeholders. With experience in construction, facilities, or project management, you will bring strong communication, negotiation, and problem‑solving skills, plus the ability to manage competing priorities and build effective relationships. You’ll work collaboratively with colleagues across Property Services, Shared Services, and other Diocesan teams, while engaging with contractors, consultants, and the general public to support the delivery of high‑quality, community‑focused projects. POSITION DESCRIPTION The Project Manager will be responsible for the coordination of major and minor projects under the supervision of the Construction Manager and the Manager of Strategic Assets. The Projects Manager will also be responsible for maintenance duties/tasks across the various Diocesan assets. The incumbent commits to working within Work Health and Safety guidelines and Code of Conduct at all times whilst in the employ of the Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle. EXPERIENCE/CRITERIA Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role within a corporate office environment. Experience in Facilities Management, Construction Management, and or Project Management. Demonstrated advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications (MS Excel, MS Access, MS Word, and Accounting systems). Highly developed communication and negotiation skills. Demonstrated decision making/problem solving skills. Demonstrated experience in report preparation. Maintain a comprehensive working knowledge of head contracts. Effectively administer minor/major projects or maintenance‑based related duties/tasks to ensure a timely and efficient completion of the head contract and subcontracts. Ability to administer contracts. Experience in using an electronic records management system. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in construction management and/or Project Management and or extensive experience in a similar role. Current Class C Driver’s Licence. Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Desirable).
