This practical, hands‑on role involves supporting day‑to‑day workshop activities, performing basic mechanical duties, and contributing to a safe, efficient, and well‑organized work environment. Works under the general direction of Lead Mechanic or Workshop Manager, the role will include, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities. Support the maintenance and repair of heavy plant, light fleet vehicles, small machinery, and associated equipment in accordance with maintenance schedules, ensuring quality, timeliness, and cost‑effectiveness. Assist in inspecting, maintaining, and repairing vehicles, engines, or mechanical systems. Perform basic maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations, filter replacements, and fluid checks. Assist in disassembling and reassembling vehicle components. Maintain accurate records of repairs and services performed. Support in diagnosing mechanical or electrical issues under the supervision of a senior mechanic. Prepare tools, equipment, and parts needed for repairs. Help order and manage inventory of parts and supplies. Keep the workshop clean, safe, and organized. Assist in testing vehicles or machinery after service to ensure proper function. Adhere to safety guidelines procedure and maintain safe work environment. Report any defects, hazards, or incidents to the supervisor immediately. About you The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and results driven individual that takes ownership in their role and works for the best interests of the Company. Skills and Experience Previous experience in a similar role (desirable) Self-motivated and shows initiative, take pride in own outputs. Ability to use common hand and power tools safely. Basic Learning, Literature & Numeracy skills. Willingness to learn, adapt and take on new challenges. Proven experience in both working independently and as part of a team. Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively. Strong work ethic, attention to detail and ability to follow instructions. High level attention to detail and accuracy.
