The Team: The Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) is the largest hospital in Tasmania and is the main provider of public elective surgery, including being the tertiary referral centre for anaesthetically complex patients and the Trauma, Burns, Cardiac Surgery, Neurosurgery, Vascular and Endovascular surgical sub-specialties from Hospitals North and Hospitals Northwest. The Surgical and Endoscopy Access Unit is responsible for surgical waitlist management, perioperative optimisation, and the scheduling and communication of all elective surgery operating sessions for the Royal Hobart Hospital. The Role: The Surgical Access ANUM role provides assistance to the Nurse Manager with planning and management of staff and resources on a day-to-day basis to ensure optimal patient care. The ANUM will act as a resource and mentor to staff providing advice, guidance and support in the care planning of patients booked on the elective surgery waitlist consistent relevant with guidelines and policies. A high level of clinical knowledge in regard to patient flow and bed utilisation should be held to be able to provide support and advice to Surgical Access Nurses (SANs). The Surgical Access ANUM is expected to contribute to quality and safety activities within the unit and seek opportunities for change and progress including encouraging staff involvement in this. You will need: Demonstrated clinical experience in the relevant practice area, with the capacity to provide clinical leadership, exercise professional judgement and initiative and work with minimal supervision. Demonstrated ability to understand the business of the unit/service in delivering the best outcomes within available resources, including a demonstrated understanding of patient flow principles and discharge planning in the pursuit of patient/client goals within a contemporary healthcare framework. Demonstrated ability to contribute to the evaluation, innovation and development of services provided by the unit/service and the review of clinical practice policy, procedures and protocols. Details of appointment: Fixed term full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, to commence as soon as possible for approximately twelve (12) months. *notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant. Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies. Salary: $109,767 to $115,813 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount. Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023. In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available: Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type Salary Packaging: You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
