Associate Nurse Unit Manager - Cardiac/Cardiothoracic Unit We are an acute medical and surgical hospital with 246 beds, conveniently located in the south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne easily accessible via the Monash Freeway and East Link. Our services include: 24-hour Emergency Department 10 bed Intensive Care Unit 17 bed Coronary Care Unit 9 Operating Theatres including a Hybrid Theatre, Cardiac Catheter Laboratory and Endoscopy Suite Day Procedure Unit Short Stay Unit Medical & Surgical Wards Consulting Suites (on-site and off-site) Pathology Radiation Oncology (operated by ICON) Burnet Ward is a high acuity 29 bed cardiac, thoracic and vascular ward, with cardiac telemetry monitoring. Burnet ward provides exceptional patient care to all patients including cardiac procedural, and patients stepping down from critical care areas such as ICU and CCU. The role of the Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM), incorporates assisting with the management and administration of the unit in conjunction with the facilitation of best practice nursing standards and care. Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager of Burnet, the successful applicant will act as both a leader and a clinical resource in this acute setting, while directly contributing to the development and implementation of policies and procedures appropriate to the unit and the hospital. The success profile and key accountabilities of this position include: Supporting the Nurse Unit Manager in providing strong, effective leadership, and change management strategies within the Burnet ward. Ensuring the professional development and support of the staff. Delivery of safe, effective, direct and indirect, patient‑centered care throughout the continuum of care from point of admission to discharge. Facilitation of the Australian Clinical Health Standards, providing exceptional care to our patients to ensure positive patient experience. Development of strong collaborative relationships with our Visiting Medical Officers. Requiring an understanding of financial acumen, ensuring bed utilisation, efficient labour management and supply management. Enhancement of relationships with other departments within the hospital. Sound judgement and decision making in consultation with key stakeholders to ensure that service delivery of the unit is in line with the hospital strategic plan. Bachelor degree in nursing. Postgraduate qualification in critical or cardiac care highly desirable, but not essential. Previous management experience within an acute hospital environment. Flexibility to work a 7‑day rotating roster – including night duty. Self‑motivated and proven ability to work as part of a collaborative team.
