Eleanor Duncan Aboriginal Services (EDAS) is seeking a passionate and community‑connected Aboriginal Child and Family Worker to join our Child and Family Services team. This is a designated Aboriginal‑identified role suited to someone who thrives in a culturally grounded, person‑led environment focused on healing, advocacy, and positive outcomes for Aboriginal families. About the Role This frontline role supports Aboriginal children, young people, and families through culturally safe, trauma‑informed care. The position offers a diverse and rewarding scope, combining case management, family support, group work, outreach, and community education with a particular lens on early childhood development, domestic and family violence (DFV) prevention, and language and cultural revitalisation. You will work as part of a transdisciplinary team alongside clinicians, midwives, health workers and allied health practitioners to deliver integrated, holistic care across the lifespan. Key responsibilities include: Conducting wellbeing assessments and developing culturally respectful case plans Delivering health education and facilitating group sessions focused on parenting, AOD awareness, DFV support, and healthy lifestyles Supporting families to navigate systems such as housing, Centrelink, education, child protection, and NDIS Coordinating referrals and collaborating with local services to ensure wrap‑around support Advocating for clients' needs, building community trust, and strengthening cultural identity through care Supporting early learning transitions, promoting child development milestones, and ensuring safety for women and children impacted by DFV Contributing to the revitalisation of Darkinjung language and cultural knowledge through group activities, family programs, and community education To succeed in this role, you will have: Demonstrated experience supporting Aboriginal families, children, or young people Skills in family‑focused and child‑centred practice, including developmental and educational support Knowledge of maternal, child, youth health, mental health, DFV, and AOD impacts Confidence supporting families impacted by domestic and family violence, using trauma‑informed strategies Ability to develop and monitor case plans and support outcomes through coordinated care Experience supporting language or cultural revitalisation and embedding cultural practice in daily work Excellent written, verbal, and digital communication skills High standards in client documentation and confidentiality Aboriginality and connection to community Understanding of early childhood development frameworks and case management practices Current NSW Working With Children Check NDIS worker screening check or willingness to obtain Satisfactory National Police Check (no serious/criminal/court record) Current NSW Driver's Licence Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in community, health, education or social services Trauma‑informed and cultural safety engagement Familiarity with systems such as NDIS, DFV services, and child protection CPR and First Aid certification Ability to use client management systems (e.g. Best Practice) Why Join EDAS?
