CBT Practitioner The closing date is 15 December 2025 In this role you will support and provide a high‑quality service to children and young people (and their families) experiencing moderate to severe mental health difficulties. This will be done through direct delivery of evidence‑based CBT interventions to support the recovery of young people referred to the service, utilising skills and knowledge of CBT and child and adolescent mental health practice. This work will be in accordance with clinical governance processes and professional standards. If required, you may be expected to undertake further training e.g. Supervisor’s Training Course. Main duties of the job Provide Cognitive Behaviour Therapy within the Core Community CAMHS Team, including assessment, formulation and intervention for children/young people as determined by need. Provide CBT consultation and support to other clinical members of the team who provide care and treatment. Work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the governance of psychological therapy practice with the specialism. Qualifications Relevant professional qualification or equivalent e.g., accredited CBT Therapist (CYPIAPT or Accredited CBT Degree/Masters) Appropriate and valid UK professional registration (e.g., psychology, systemic family therapy, psychotherapy, teaching, social work, nursing, occupational health) Demonstrable evidence of working practice as a CBT psychotherapist/trainee CBT psychotherapist Knowledge of a range of CBT evidence‑based therapeutic interventions and approaches and the ability to apply them based on the child's need Maintain current specific professional and legal standards of practice in accordance with professional codes of conduct Take responsibility to ensure maintenance of professional registration by meeting specific professional standards and adhering to codes of practice Completed CBT supervisor's course Experience Experience of working with children and young people with mental health presentations Evidence of continued professional development Qualification/relevant experience in leadership and management or equivalent in health and social care management Experience of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy clinical interventions/approaches in groups and/or one-to-one Experience of using and interpreting ROMs Minimum 2 years experience band 6 or equivalent Evidence of clinical development Collaborative working experience Experience of effective engagement with families and carers Experience of managerial and clinical leadership/transferable skills Sound experience in area applied for or experience in an equivalent area Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team Experience of managing safeguarding presentations in children and young people Experience of assessing, working with and managing risk Ability to safeguard and protect welfare Knowledge of legislation related to children and/or adolescents' mental health and social care (e.g., Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, Care Act, Child Protection and Safeguarding of Vulnerable Children) Disclosure and Barring Service Check This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exception Order) 1975 and requires a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
