Aboriginal Mental Health Clinician Employment Type: Permanent Full Time | Hours Per Week: 38 | Salary: $65,012.00 - $117,755.00 per annum plus superannuation. Location: Kogarah, Sydney. Contact: Hollie Ballingall, . Join the SESLHD Mental Health workforce to provide culturally responsive care to Aboriginal consumers. This is an Aboriginal Identified Role that requires an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent; cultural capability and lived experience are essential. Responsibilities While specific day‑to‑day duties are not itemised in the posting, key responsibilities include consumer assessment, treatment, support and advocacy in a mental health field; organization of community development activities; collaboration with a multidisciplinary team; and delivery of outcomes that respect cultural differences. Qualifications & Selection Criteria Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent – a genuine occupational qualification authorised by NSW law. Professional registration as a Social Worker or Occupational Therapist (Schedule C NSW Health Award and current AHPRA registration), Registered Nurse (current Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia registration), or Psychologist (four‑year degree and Psychology Board of Australia registration). An Aboriginal Health Worker holds or aspires to hold a Cert III in Aboriginal Primary Health Care. Demonstrated knowledge of the NSW Mental Health Act 2007 and commitment to SESLHD Closing the Gap initiatives. Proven skill in consumer assessment, treatment, support and advocacy, with a track record of successful, culturally respectful outcomes. Effective written, computer and verbal communication skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Commitment to a consumer‑focused, recovery‑oriented approach and collaboration in care planning. Experience in community development activities addressing social and emotional health. Current driver’s licence and willingness to travel as required. Benefits Eligibility list for future Permanent Full Time positions.
