Classroom Music and Violin/Piano Teacher

Overview The JS Classroom Music and Violin/Piano Teacher will make a significant contribution to an aspirational and rigorous culture of educational and operational excellence at Xavier through their leadership offered to students, parents and all educators engaged with the Music Programme at the Junior Campus. They will work in partnership with the Heads of Instrumental Departments, Coordinator of JS Music, Head of Music and Heads of Learning Area: Music. This position covers classes at Junior School, focusing on teaching Year 6, Year 4, Year 3 and Year 2 Classroom Music. Responsibilities Teaching Year 6 Classroom Music Teaching Year 4 Classroom Music Teaching Year 3 Classroom Music Teaching Year 2 Classroom Music Be demonstrably committed to the delivery of exceptional learning experiences for their students Fulfil their teaching craft (or be actively working towards delivery) in a manner aligned with the ‘Highly Accomplished’ AITSL teaching standard Embrace the designated curriculum programs and teaching and learning methods adopted by the College Engage with fellow educators across year levels and classes in a collegial and supportive manner to collaborate in the delivery of exceptional outcomes for their students Cultivate effective learning habits and approaches in students, working with others (including parents) to achieve positive outcomes Teach individual instrumental students ranging in age from beginner to approx. AMEB Grade 4; the ability to teach up to VCE level is desirable but not essential Liaise with the Head of Instrumental Department and other ensemble directors to support instrumental players in the ensembles Prepare students for recitals and exams Potentially assist with other ensembles as required, including running potential instrumental sectionals Potentially tutor Chamber Groups (e.g. String Quartet, Piano Trio etc.) Attend meetings/training as required Assist with concerts as required Attend to administrative tasks as required Assist with basic maintenance of instruments Write semester reports Core Qualifications Experience teaching classroom music and violin/piano with focus on junior school levels Suzuki Violin teaching would be advantageous Our Staff Benefits Competitive Compensation: We offer competitive salaries along with collaborative management structures within a coaching environment.
