Job Details South Australian Housing Trust Job reference: Location: 5700 - PORT AUGUSTA Job status: Long Term Contract (up to two years) Eligibility: Open to Everyone Salary: $76,561 - $80,256 (ASO4) About The Role As a Housing Officer, you’ll be an important part of a regional team managing public housing tenants. Your focus will be to support and assist customers/tenants by providing tenancy management services, information, referrals and advocacy. Responsibilities Work with customers who have experienced significant life challenges or trauma Provide housing solutions for vulnerable people experiencing a range of social and economic hardship Conduct home visits for vulnerable and complex tenants Manage tenancy related debt matters Resolve disputes and concerns involving public housing tenancies Build positive working relationships with colleagues, stakeholders and community members Required Skills & Experience Experience in delivering community or human services Proven ability to handle complex and sensitive assessments with care and empathy Strong skill in managing competing demands and prioritising workload Good problem‑solving skills and confidence to make decisions independently Proficient in using digital technology and customer information systems to deliver efficient service Good understanding of social and housing challenges faced by underrepresented groups, including Aboriginal people and those living with disabilities Qualifications in Community Service, Social Science or Human Services are a plus but not essential About Us The SA Housing Trust is committed to supporting people in our community to maintain safe, secure and affordable housing and works in genuine partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to support equitable outcomes. Demonstrated experience in identifying and responding to risk and vulnerability through assessments, support, advocacy, and appropriate referrals. Demonstrated understanding of the cultural requirements and specific housing issues that impact tenancy outcomes for Aboriginal people and people with a disability. Demonstrated ability to prioritise workload and manage competing demands to achieve performance measures. Competence in efficiently using digital technology, including mobility devices, customer information systems and cloud‑based software applications.
