Overview We support young people and their children who are at risk and experiencing homelessness, to secure and maintain housing, address physical and mental health challenges, establish successful relationships and support networks, and access pathways to education and employment. Position This full-time role of Youth Housing Specialist supports our mission by providing crisis, brief intervention and ongoing planned support to young people including BYS tenants, enabling them to successfully transition into independent living. The role works collaboratively with other teams within BYS, key partners and the broader community to effectively respond to issues associated with housing and homelessness. Responsibilities Provide crisis, brief intervention and ongoing planned support to young people including BYS tenants. Collaborate with other teams within BYS, key partners and the broader community. Respond to issues associated with housing and homelessness. Requirements Hold a tertiary qualification in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, Social Sciences or a comparable qualification, OR substantial demonstrated experience in a related field. Experience in managing complex cases within service delivery environments, ensuring tailored support and positive outcomes for clients. Have experience working holistically with vulnerable young people, using brief solution-focused crisis interventions and ongoing planned support, building trusting relationships with marginalised young people. Experience conducting thorough assessments of a young person’s situation and support needs, including suicide risk assessments. Strong organisational and planning skills and the ability to work independently and contribute positively within a team. Demonstrated effective communication skills, including strong interpersonal skills and writing skills and the ability to advocate on behalf of others. Non‑negotiables Working with Children Suitability Card (Blue Card). National Police Check clearance. Evidence of vaccination, immunity, or medical exemption for the following preventable diseases – Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella (Chicken Pox); Pertussis (Whooping Cough).
