The Role Reporting to the Operations Support Manager, the Hydraulics Engineering Manager will oversee the design, development, and delivery of advanced hydraulic systems and components. You’ll work closely with cross‑functional teams across R&D, production, and quality to ensure technical integrity, compliance, and innovation in every project. In this hands‑on role, you’ll oversee the full lifecycle of hydraulic system design and integration, from concept through to commissioning. You’ll guide a team of skilled engineers and technicians, ensuring our solutions continue to meet the highest standards of performance, quality, and safety. Key Responsibilities Lead the engineering team in the design, development, and testing of hydraulic systems, components, and assemblies Manage multiple bespoke and OEM projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, on budget, and to specification Provide technical direction on system design, fluid circuit layout, and component selection (e.g., pumps, valves, cylinders) Interpret client requirements and develop Front‑End Engineering Design (FEED) scope of work documents, including deliverables lists and resource estimates. Manage the engineering schedule and budget allocations, ensuring timely delivery of outputs and initiating project variations as required throughout the project lifecycle. Prepare detailed fault‑finding and troubleshooting procedures to resolve operational issues ranging from simple components up to complex hydraulic systems Work closely with sales, production, and service departments to ensure technical feasibility and customer satisfaction Maintain and improve internal design standards, drawing libraries, and documentation procedures Drive innovation and continuous improvement in hydraulic technologies, efficiency, and system performance Introduce and implement continuous improvement initiatives in design and process Serve as the key technical point of contact for major clients and strategic partners Qualifications & Experience Degree-qualified in Mechanical, Hydraulic, or Fluid Power Engineering (or equivalent) 7+ years of experience in hydraulic system design, including at least 2 years in a leadership or management role Expert understanding of hydraulic principles, circuit design, pressure/flow calculations, and fault diagnosis Proficiency in 3D CAD (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor) and hydraulic simulation tools Familiarity with ISO, AS, API and SAE standards relevant to hydraulic systems Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliverables through strong organisational skills, effective time management, and a structured approach to workload planning.
