About the Role : As a Disability Support Worker, you will play a vital role in empowering individuals to live independently and engage meaningfully in their communities. Your support will be tailored to each participant's unique needs, goals and aspirations – helping them build confidence, develop life skills and achieve greater independence.You will work as part of a dedicated care team, collaborating with participants, families, and healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for those you support.Your key responsibilities include : Supporting participants in their unique journey by promoting independence and meaningful engagement in their communities.Providing assistance across various settings, including self-care activities, community participation, respite care and Supported Independent Living (SIL).Encouraging personal growth, employment and skill development to enhance quality of life.Building strong, respectful relationships based on trust and dignity.Collaborating with families, carers and professionals to deliver holistic, person-centred support. Skills & ExperienceStrong communication and interpersonal skills to build meaningful relationships with participants and their families.Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.Awareness of cultural protocols when working with Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and CALD communities.Understanding of privacy and confidentiality requirements.Experience with High-Intensity Support (preferred).Experience with Complex Behaviour Support Management (preferred). Requirements (Current or Willing to Obtain)Proof of Australian citizenship, residency, or valid work visa.QLD Open Driver's License.QLD Working with Children Blue Card.NDIS Worker Screening Check (Yellow Card).Infection Control Certificate.First Aid & CPR Certificate (HLTAID011 & HLTAID009).National Police Check (less than 6 months old).Certificate III in Individual Support (or willingness to obtain).Completion of the NDIS Orientation Module.Willingness to undergo additional training tailored to participants' needs.Minimum 6 months of experience in a similar role (preferred).
