Foster Care Case Manager - Readvertised Full-time, 38 hours a week This is an Aboriginal Designated Position, classified under "special measures" of Section 12 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010. Previous applicants need not to apply About the Role The Foster Care Case Manager reports directly to the Team Leader Foster Care and is responsible for supporting the Team Leader to fulfil the requirements and responsibilities relevant to the role including Aboriginal ways of working, quality and compliance, and the strategic direction of Rumbalara Aboriginal Co-operative. Providing culturally safe, trauma-informed case management to Aboriginal children and young people in both statutory and voluntary foster care. Ensuring children are placed in safe, stable, and culturally appropriate environments that support their emotional, developmental, and cultural wellbeing. Working closely with foster carers, families, the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH), and other internal and external stakeholders to promote the best interests of the child. Leading care teams, conducting regular placement visits, managing referrals, completing statutory documentation such as LAC records, and supporting safe family connection and reunification where appropriate. Supporting and supervising foster carers, contributing to carer assessments, and participating in carer recruitment, training, and retention activities. Grounded in the principles of Aboriginal self-determination, the Aboriginal Child Placement Principle, and a commitment to improving outcomes for Aboriginal children in care. About You You are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander. Recognised qualification in Social Work, Community Services, or a related field (Diploma level minimum). Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture, intergenerational trauma, and its impacts on children and families. Demonstrated understanding of the out‑of‑home care system, including the Child, Youth and Families Act 2005, Looking After Children’s Framework, Cultural Support planning and the Aboriginal Child Placement Principles. Proven ability to maintain a high standard of confidentiality, professional boundaries and compliance with program, legislative and organisational requirements. Demonstrated experience in case management, including risk assessment, managing referrals, coordinating care teams, liaising with service providers, and applying culturally responsive case work practices. Strong communication, advocacy, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with Aboriginal children, families, and carers. Sound organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing demands, meet deadlines, and maintain accurate documentation. Ability to work co‑operatively and effectively in a team environment. What We Offer Salary packaging of $15,900 available for Part‑ or Full‑time employees.
