ESTIMATOR (AI & Automation Focus) – SIGNAGE INDUSTRY (VIC) A long-established national organisation in the signage manufacturing sector is seeking a forward-thinking Estimator with a strong interest in AI, data, and automation . This role combines hands‑on estimating with a strong focus on using and supporting AI‑driven tools. You’ll work closely with an internal AI/automation team to shape and improve how these tools are used day to day, while also supporting light contract administration tasks around scopes of work and project documentation. You’ll work closely with an internal AI development group to help build and maintain data sets that increase the speed, accuracy, efficiency, and productivity of our quoting and estimating processes—ideal for someone who enjoys innovation and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities AI, Data & Automation Support Use AI‑enabled estimating and quoting tools as part of your daily workflow. Provide structured feedback to the AI/automation team on tool performance, usability, and accuracy. Help identify which parts of the estimating process can be standardised or simplified so they work better with AI tools. Assist in curating and improving the quality of data sets (materials, labour, job history, quote outcomes) used by AI tools. Help document and refine “best practice” AI‑assisted estimating processes for the wider team. Review drawings, specifications, and scopes of work to prepare accurate project estimates. Work closely with sales and project teams to understand requirements and deliver timely, competitive quotes. Source pricing and negotiate terms with suppliers and subcontractors. Analyse costing trends, job performance, and historical data to identify efficiencies and cost‑saving opportunities. Maintain and enhance a structured database of materials, labour rates, and historical job costs. Support preparation of proposals, tenders, and quote packages. Contract Administration Support Assist with reviewing and clarifying scopes of work to ensure alignment between quotes and client expectations. Support preparation and review of project documentation, variations, and schedules. Help ensure estimating outputs align with contractual requirements and project deliverables. AI & Automation – Indicative KPIs / Success Measures Success in the AI and automation aspect of this role will be reflected in metrics such as: Quote turnaround time: Reduction in average time taken to generate and finalise quotes using AI‑assisted workflows. Accuracy of estimates: Improved alignment between estimated and actual project costs/margins over time. Data quality & completeness: Increased consistency and completeness of data captured in estimating systems (materials, labour rates, project outcomes). AI tool adoption & usage: High and consistent use of AI‑assisted features in day-to-day estimating activity. Continuous improvement input: Regular, actionable feedback provided to the AI team, leading to visible enhancements in tools and workflows. Process standardisation: Increased proportion of quotes following agreed standard processes and templates that support automation. (These KPIs are indicative and will be refined collaboratively once you’re in the role.) Skills & Experience Previous experience as an Estimator in signage, construction, manufacturing, or a related sector. Strong analytical and numerical skills with excellent attention to detail. Confident communicator with solid stakeholder and supplier negotiation skills. Competent with estimating tools and MS Office; experience with digital or cloud‑based systems is an advantage. Comfortable working with data (e.g. spreadsheets, databases, structured information) and keen to improve processes. Demonstrated interest in technology, AI, automation, or process improvement—you enjoy finding smarter, faster ways to work. Ability to manage workload independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment. This is a full‑time position; we may consider a contractor who can commit to full‑time hours.
