LEGO club mentor (Ideal for teenagers aged 15-18) The Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre is advertising this role on behalf of the Craig Family Centre. About the Role We are seeking enthusiastic, compassionate, and creative teenagers aged 15-18 to volunteer as mentors in our LEGO Club Mentor Program . This initiative supports children aged 6-12 who may be experiencing social isolation, are neurodivergent, shy, or simply in need of positive peer interaction and social skill development. Through weekly LEGO building challenges and guided mentoring, this role is a chance for young people to make a meaningful difference while developing their own leadership, communication, and facilitation skills. Key Duties Attend weekly LEGO Club sessions at Craig Family Centre in Ashburton (Thursdays 4.00pm - 5.30pm ) Be buddied with a child participant and provide one‑on‑one support Encourage creativity, teamwork and confidence through structured LEGO challenges Support children to express themselves during group show-and-tell Model positive communication and leadership behaviour Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and engaging group environment Participate in occasional co‑design sessions to shape the program alongside other mentors and staff Assist with basic set‑up and pack‑down before/after each session About Our Organisation The Craig Family Centre has served the Boroondara community for over 60 years. We are a welcoming, inclusive neighbourhood house offering programs for all ages with a focus on connection, lifelong learning, wellbeing and social inclusion. Our children’s programs aim to foster resilience, creativity, and community engagement. The LEGO Club is one of our youth-focused initiatives designed to empower both primary‑aged children and teenage mentors to grow in confidence and build strong relationships. At the same time, you’ll be developing your own voice as a leader and mentor, gaining insight into child development, community services, and inclusive education. This is more than a volunteer role—it’s a chance to help create a fun, safe and encouraging space for kids who need it most, while building valuable skills that will benefit you long into the future.
