About This Role Great opportunity to join Youth Justice on an ongoing basis. Manage and lead the delivery of training to the Youth Justice business unit. Strengthen trainer wellbeing and workforce capacity by collaborating across teams to optimise delivery models, build internal capability, and strategically engage external providers to meet statewide training demands. The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is responsible for the statutory supervision of young people in the criminal justice system in Victoria focusing on prevention, diversion, and early intervention as the most effective and fiscally responsible ways of reducing youth crime. The Youth Justice Learning and Capability team is part of the Transformation, Development and Capability business unit, responsible for transformation, learning and development to support employees. The team delivers training across Youth Justice Custody and Community areas, spanning induction training to refresher, upskilling and professional development training. Learning and Capability's purpose is to enable staff to grow their capabilities through quality learning and professional development services, to better serve our community. The Opportunity Ongoing, full-time position based across Werribee (primary location), Parkville and Cherry Creek. VPS Grade 5 role: $113,022 - $136,747 per year plus superannuation. Lead and oversee the delivery of diverse, high-quality training programs, from small group sessions and one-on-one coaching to observations, covering Foundations (induction), professional development top-ups, and refresher courses that engage and empower learners. Develop a model of delivery that includes developing internal training capacity of the program and strategic use of external providers to ensure training demand across the state is met. Provide professional development and support to a team of Senior Officers, mentoring and coaching to the trainers, including professional practice. Act as the primary point of contact for escalated training-related issues, including learner behaviour, safety, and incident management. Maintain the quality and consistency of training to meet Youth Justice standards and operational requirements. Collaborate closely with custodial operations to ensure a responsive, high-quality service for our stakeholders. Work locations include Werribee (primary location), Parkville and Cherry Creek as well as other training venues in the metropolitan West, South-West and Inner Northern Suburbs (availability to regularly teach across locations is a must). To Be Successful In This Role You Will Have Leadership experience in multi-modal training delivery for a training team delivering various training solutions. Proficiency in developing and implementing a flexible and comprehensive training delivery model that builds internal capacity and strategically incorporates external providers to meet statewide training demands. The ability to enhance trainers' professional practice through targeted development programs, fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Proficiency in leveraging learning technologies and data analytics, utilising tools such as Learning Management Systems (LMS) to track, evaluate, and enhance training programs. An undergraduate degree in Human Resources, Business or relevant area is desirable. A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or Diploma of Vocational Education and Training or Diploma of Training Design and Development. A current driver's licence is required due to the need to work across different locations. You will be required to obtain a Working with Children Check, which you will need to maintain for the period of employment. What's in it for you?
