Bicycle Mechanic/ Program Facilitator

At Community Bike Hub, we create positive social and environmental impact through bicycles by running a full-service retail workshop, delivering community programs, and teaching basic bike mechanic skills to over 300 students each year. Every repair, service, and sale supports our mission of improving access to cycling for everyone. About the role We’re looking for an experienced bike mechanic and program facilitator to join our friendly team at the West Footscray location. You’ll work on bikes for the general public, providing high-quality repairs, servicing, and advice. From diagnosing tricky mechanical issues to keeping our customers’ bikes running smoothly, you’ll play a key role in delivering excellent service and maintaining high standards across the workshop. You’ll also have opportunities to assist with community and education programs, sharing your knowledge and helping others develop confidence around bikes. Key duties and responsibilities Inspect and diagnose bike issues Repair and maintain bicycles and components Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out servicing Provide customers with clear, professional advice Support community and education programs as required Experience and attributes 2+ years’ experience in a bike shop Strong knowledge of bicycle components and systems Skilled in diagnosing and repairing mechanical issues Good communication and customer service skills Attention to detail and commitment to safety Ability to work independently and as part of a team Problem‑solving ability and composure under pressure Aptitude for teaching and sharing knowledge Current Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain one) Willingness to undergo a police check Experience in community development or youth services (highly regarded) Why work with us?
