Teacher – Health and Physical Education – AFL Academy Program Coordinator This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 1, Note: This position is being advertised as part of a recruitment pilot designed to simplify the application process for teachers. The School Coastal Lakes College (CLC) is located in Lakelands, a south‑western suburb of Perth in the City of Mandurah. The college opened in and now caters for students in Year 7 to 12 (in We are a fast growing and innovative college which includes an Inclusive Education hub for students with moderate to severe disabilities. All successful applicants to Coastal Lakes College may potentially teach Inclusive Education students within their learning area. The Role CLC is seeking to appoint a passionate, committed, and leadership‑focused Health and Physical Education teacher with strong background skills and qualifications in the coaching of Australian Rules Football (AFL) to lead the AFL Academy Program. The successful applicant will be appointed to the Teacher‑in‑Charge position of the AFL Academy Program which is aligned with the Western Australian Football Commission. The AFL Academy Program commences in for Year 8 students and then expands into other year groups in . The Western Australia Football Commission aligned academy program will deliver quality football education and competition opportunities for students at CLC to meet the strong interest that exists for AFL in our local community. This position would not only suit a passionate HPE teacher with suitable credentials in AFL, but also someone has aspirations to lead a program and develop their leadership capabilities. The successful applicant will ideally be committed to fostering positive relationships, ensuring high levels of student engagement and sustaining high expectations of success for every student regardless of their starting point. They will possess high standards of professionalism and embrace opportunities for collaboration within the College community and neighbouring schools. Qualifications and experience include professional knowledge, understandings and experience to develop and implement an engaging and relevant secondary school AFL, Health and Physical Education curriculum. As an expert practitioner you will show commitment to excellence in teaching and engage in regular self‑reflection. You will create environments conducive to learning and provide educational opportunities that are purposeful and relevant, catering for different student learning needs. Teachers at CLC will ideally provide integrated, personalised and authentic learning experiences for students through our CLC Teaching, Learning and Assessment Framework. This should be achieved through the use of High Impact Teaching Strategies (HITS), formative assessment, CMS (Classroom Management Strategies) approaches in building positive relationships and engaging families in their child's learning. The College has developed strong, innovative partnerships with its local primary schools and community organisations. A commitment to the College's emphasis on personal best, pastoral care, social and emotional learning initiatives and Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) will be desirable, as will active promotion of the College's vision, motto and values within the College and the wider community.
