Construction Estimator Kogan People Solutions recruiters are working with a rapidly growing, boutique building firm specializing in high-quality custom homes, knockdown / rebuild projects, and townhouses, across the Melbourne metro area. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Construction Estimator to join their dedicated team. You will be responsible for preparing detailed, accurate, and timely cost estimates for their diverse range of high-end residential projects. This is a crucial role where your expertise directly influences project profitability and client satisfaction. The role is full time and ongoing. Location and Salary Location: Based in Wollert Vic, travel across Metro Melbourne will be necessary Salary: $85,000 – $95,000 + Superannuation per annum Key Responsibilities Prepare detailed cost estimates from conceptual plans through to final construction drawings. Conduct thorough analysis of project specifications, plans, and scope of works for custom homes, knockdown / rebuilds, and multi-unit developments (townhouses). Source and analyse supplier / subcontractor quotations to ensure competitive and current pricing. Develop and maintain a comprehensive database of labour, material, and plant costs. Work closely with Project Managers, Designers, and Clients to provide cost advice and value engineering options. Identify potential project risks and opportunities, providing strategic recommendations. Ensure all estimates comply with relevant building codes, standards, and regulatory requirements. Qualifications A highly relevant Diploma or higher qualification (or a highly relevant equivalent, such as 3+ years professional experience in the field). Solid professional career and at least one, preferably more, years of proven experience as an Estimator on Australian residential or multi‑unit construction projects (e.g., custom homes, townhouses, multi‑unit developments). Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Buildsoft, Databuild, or similar industry‑standard programs). Strong understanding of construction methodologies, materials, and processes specific to Australian residential building. Exceptional analytical and mathematical skills with high attention to detail. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for liaising with clients, subcontractors, and the internal team. Unrestricted Victorian driver’s license.
