Modern Workplace It Support Engineer

This role would be based around our Perth office locations. Candidates must have existing Australian work authorisation. About the role The IT Support Engineer is responsible for supporting all end users' devices and IT systems for Quanta Services Australia (QSA). The role involves assisting in the implementation and ongoing support of IT systems at new and specific project sites, which may include the use of satellite technology. They are also responsible for ensuring that IT projects are designed, procured, coordinated, and implemented in line with the requirements of the business. The role is also tasked with logging and tracking tickets through the ITSM system, ensuring issues are promptly addressed and resolved within the agreed SLAs, maintaining accurate documentation, adhering to IT Policies and Procedures, ensuring compliance with Health and Safety regulations and following Security Best Practices. The support Officer will provide recommendations for new technologies that could benefit the business. Key Responsibilities Incident Management & Resolution : Build end‑user devices via Intune and SCCM, provide comprehensive support for laptops, mobile devices and peripherals, log and track tickets in accordance with agreed SLAs, investigate root causes, act as escalation point for 1st‑2nd level support, implement solutions with minimal disruption, and undertake occasional weekly travel between office sites. IT Administration : Install, configure and maintain IT systems, software and hardware to meet organisational standards, manage server backups, maintain file structures and user access with security rights, and keep accurate documentation following IT Policies and Procedures. Modern Workplace : Enforce device security policies such as encryption, remote wipe and endpoint monitoring, and provide technical support for modern workplace tools and applications. Device Procurement : Work with the Procurement Officer to purchase IT‑related assets. IT Project Support : Communicate with project stakeholders to identify and document IT requirements, coordinate with IT vendors for equipment procurement, attend project sites for equipment maintenance and end‑user support, proactively contact onsite stakeholders to identify issues, ensure training and documentation transition to BAU service teams, and undertake occasional travel for site set‑up. Compliance and Reporting : Satisfy all IT General Controls and SOX Compliance Controls. Onboarding New Businesses : Assist the M&A team in setting up basic IT services for newly acquired businesses. Qualifications Diploma or Degree in Computing Sciences or other relevant higher education. Training and qualifications in Windows Server Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft technologies – Exchange / Office365, SCCM / Intune, Microsoft Active Directory & Group Policy. Experience supporting a Microsoft End‑User Computer environment (Windows, desktop applications, printer support). Working knowledge of SharePoint & OneDrive. Exposure to Line of Business applications. Cisco switching. ITIL Foundation Certificate. Exposure to Microsoft Azure. Basic coding / scripting skills. Basic PowerBI skills. Working knowledge of networking skills (Routing, Switching, DHCP, DNS etc.). Experience using IT Service Management tools & ticketing systems (Incident / Request / Problem Management). Experience 4+ years in an IT technical support role or similar. Tertiary qualification / Diploma (or nearing completion) in Information Technology or equivalent discipline or demonstrated relevant experience. Experience in IT technology design, implementation and support of branch offices and project sites. Understanding of ITIL practices desirable. Demonstrated problem‑solving skills.
