Public Transport Authority of Western Australia – East Perth WA About the role This role is responsible for delivering contract compliance and fare enforcement services to enhance the customer travel experience while safeguarding transport revenue. The position involves checking passenger tickets and SmartRider cards, issuing infringements for transport offences in line with legislation and policy, and conducting audits of Transperth’s contracted bus service providers to ensure compliance with performance standards. The role includes ticketing operations such as investigating fare compliance, issuing infringements, and supporting staff and contractors on ticketing policies and technology. It also involves auditing bus service providers for contractual and operational compliance, preparing reports, and assisting with compliance programs. Additionally, the position provides high-level customer service by advising on fare responsibilities, managing incidents, and supporting operations during service disruptions. Other duties include investigating complaints, handling customer feedback, and maintaining accurate operational data. About You To excel in this role, you should possess: Strong understanding of customer service techniques in operational transport environments, with the ability to interpret and apply legislation, policies, and procedures accurately. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including conflict resolution and negotiation, with the ability to maintain detailed records and build effective team relationships. Sound analytical and research skills, keen observation, and decision‑making abilities to identify issues, resolve problems, and complete tasks independently. Demonstrated initiative, time management, and ability to work autonomously while supporting team development, combined with proficiency in computer systems for reporting and data entry.
