Principal Business Analyst | 12‑month contract Location: Brisbane CBD, with flexibility to work from home up to 3 days per week. Pay: $1,093.00 per day. Client: Queensland Government Department. About the Role We are seeking an experienced Principal Business Analyst to lead the analysis and requirements gathering for the replacement of a legacy system with a contemporary solution. The successful candidate will work closely with stakeholders to understand current processes, identify pain points, and define the requirements for the future‑state system, and support business case development. Key Responsibilities Analyze, synthesize and document current state system processes and workflows. Identify gaps and inefficiencies in the legacy system. Elicit and prioritize requirements for the future state system. Collaborate with technical teams to ensure alignment with business goals. Produce detailed documentation, including process maps, requirement specifications, and user stories. Facilitate workshops, interviews, and stakeholder meetings. Participate in project planning sessions and provide business analysis expertise to inform project decision‑making. Provide advice and recommendations to project governance to help manage risk. Assist with the prioritization of project deliverables and features based on business impact. Assist in drafting a comprehensive business case including problem definition, options analysis, cost‑benefit analysis and risk assessment. Support change management and training initiatives. Key Skills and Experience Minimum 5–10 years proven experience implementing legacy system replacement projects within a QLD Government environment. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities. Proficiency in business analysis tools (e.g., Visio, JIRA, Confluence). Exceptional BPMN skills and experience. Knowledge of system architecture and data migration processes. Working knowledge of project management methodologies such as Agile or PRINCE2. Understanding of Queensland Government Enterprise Architecture principles, standards, and frameworks. Qualifications A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as business administration, information systems, or computer science. Industry‑recognised certifications such as CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional) or PMI‑PBA (Professional in Business Analysis).
