About The Opportunity Council’s Aquatic and Leisure department, part of the City Services directorate, owns and operates five Aquatic and Leisure Centres. The Group Fitness Instructor is responsible for planning and delivering engaging, safe group fitness classes that cater to a wide range of community members and fitness levels, supporting our strategic goal of fostering health, wellbeing, and social connection through active participation in group exercise programs. Responsibilities Plan and deliver a variety of engaging group fitness classes designed for diverse community members and fitness levels, ensuring safety and effectiveness while promoting community health and wellbeing. Qualifications and Experience Certificate III in Fitness Current Working with Children Check (WWCC) Current First Aid certification Current CPR Certificate Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Proven experience leading group fitness classes with diverse participant demographics Ability to adapt programs for various ages, fitness levels, injuries and physical limitations Strong understanding of exercise science, functional movement and injury prevention About This Role Casual position Located at Council’s Aquatic Centres; occasional travel across Council worksites may be required Salary Grade 8 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a range of $39.33 to $48.18 per hour (plus casual loading). Weekend penalty rates apply in accordance with the Local Government Award. The commencing salary will be negotiated based on the applicant’s qualifications, skills and experience.
