Introduction: Watercare Technologies (Pvt) Ltd, founded in 2006 in Sri Lanka, is a leading company in water and wastewater treatment, environmental engineering, chemical manufacturing, and laboratory services. The company is expanding its international footprint through the establishment of Watercare Technologies AUS Pty Ltd in Adelaide, South Australia, to serve as its regional base for innovation, trade, and technology development. Our business is built on sustainability principles, promoting water reuse, circular‑economy‑based solutions, and advanced treatment technologies that drive environmental and industrial transformation. We are seeking a visionary and results‑driven Research and Development Manager to head our newly established Australian subsidiary. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership, research, and business development capabilities, and the ability to establish and grow an integrated business operation aligned with our global strategy. Duties: Develop, implement, and oversee research and development strategies, policies, and technical programs in water and wastewater treatment, water reuse, circular economy applications. Lead major research and innovation projects, coordinate multidisciplinary engineering, scientific, and technical teams, and ensure project outcomes support Watercare’s commercial, operational, and sustainability objectives in Australia. Design and execute research priorities, product development initiatives, and market/technology assessments, while monitoring costs, effectiveness, and benefits of all R&D and laboratory activities. Interpret laboratory, environmental, and engineering research results, provide expert recommendations, and drive associated innovations in product development, service delivery, regulatory compliance, and operational improvements. Establish, manage, and continuously improve an accredited analytical laboratory, ensure ISO and regulatory compliance, monitor emerging technologies, and evaluate their implications for Watercare’s Australian operations. Provide high‑level strategic and operational leadership, including advising on R&D options, managing stakeholder engagement, overseeing technical and commercial functions, and leading recruitment, capability development, and performance of multidisciplinary teams. Prepare and present technical papers, reports, or publications arising from significant research projects, contributing to industry knowledge and Watercare’s leadership profile. Oversee and mentor research scientists, engineers, and technical personnel across all R&D programs, ensuring high technical capability and collaborative project execution. Skills and Experience: A minimum of Master’s degree in Science, Environmental Management, or Business A proven leader with 10+ years of senior management or R&D leadership experience in water, wastewater, or chemical industries. Strong background in environmental engineering, process technology, or industrial chemistry. Strategic thinker with a hands‑on approach to establishing new operations or country offices. Deep understanding of circular‑economy concepts and sustainable industrial development. Ability to manage technical teams, commercial operations, and compliance frameworks.
