Your impact Jacobs is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join our dynamic team in North Queensland, based in either Townsville or Cairns . This position is open to personnel between 2 to 10 years' experience. Reporting to the Section Leader of Tunnel and Ground Engineering (TGE), this role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to major Transport, Water, and Power projects while fostering a culture of inclusivity and care. Responsibilities As a Geotechnical Engineer, you will play a crucial role in analysing and assessing soil and rock properties to determine their behaviour under various conditions. Your expertise will be instrumental in designing foundations for structures, evaluating slope stability, and providing solutions for complex ground‑related challenges. You will be involved in all stages of projects, from initial site investigations to final design and construction support. Key responsibilities include: Conducting field investigations and collecting ground data. Interpreting geotechnical data and performing advanced soil and rock mechanics analyses. Developing detailed design recommendations and technical reports. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including civil, structural, hydrologic, and environmental specialists. Providing construction support and quality assurance on site. Mentoring junior staff and nurturing their technical skills. Qualifications Relevant engineering qualification. Background in geotechnical engineering with experience across a variety of ground conditions and project types. Excellent communication skills. Ability to manage complex projects.
