We are now seeking an experienced and driven Procurement Officer to join a vibrant and progressive inner-Melbourne council on a contract basis. About the Role This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in facilitating high-quality, transparent and efficient procurement services within a growing and community-focused local government organisation. As the Procurement Officer , you will support the full procurement lifecycle—from tender development through to contract award and management—ensuring compliance, strong governance and excellent stakeholder service. Deliver end-to-end tender and procurement processes , ensuring alignment with legislation, policy and best practice Provide accurate procurement, contract and tendering advice to internal stakeholders Support the implementation of the organisation’s Contract Management Framework Maintain the Supplier Portal , procurement systems and contract management tools Prepare clear, well-structured reports and procurement documentation Conduct internal checks to ensure probity and compliance Coordinate communications with suppliers and internal clients Assist with the management of procurement panels, reporting and vendor data Provide training and support to staff, building capability across the organisation You’ll work collaboratively with contract managers, suppliers, contractors and project stakeholders, helping to foster a culture of transparency, accountability and continuous improvement. Key selection criteria Tertiary qualifications in procurement, commerce, accounting or a related field, or significant experience in procurement and contracting Strong understanding of procurement processes, frameworks and probity principles Ability to prepare tender and contract documentation to a high standard Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills Strong written and verbal communication skills Analytical thinking and a solutions-focused mindset Proven capability with procurement systems, contract management tools and MS Office (particularly Word and Excel) High attention to detail, organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities If interested, please apply via seek.
