Vocational Specialist - headspace Primary Care; Katoomba Full-time | Until June 2026 Location: headspace Primary Care, Katoomba. Pay: Health Professional Award – Support Services Level 6 | $35.69/hr + Salary packaging. Be part of something meaningful – support young people on their mental health journey. Headspace Katoomba is part of Australia’s National Youth Mental Health Foundation, providing early intervention services to young people aged 12–25. Our multidisciplinary team delivers support across mental health, physical health (including sexual health), alcohol and other drugs, and work and study. About The Role This is a full-time (38 hrs/week) contract until June 2026 at headspace Katoomba within the Primary Care Team. We’re seeking someone passionate about helping young people aged 12–25 explore pathways in work, study, and careers. You’ll work with young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health challenges, supporting them through referrals from GPs, schools, community centres, families, and self‑referrals. At headspace, we follow a “no wrong door” policy, ensuring every young person receives support. What You’ll Be Doing Supporting young people to develop job‑ready skills, including resume writing, interview preparation, and job searching. Helping young people explore career options and alternative education pathways. Providing vocational guidance and mentoring tailored to each young person’s strengths and goals. Attending morning intake meetings to identify young people who could benefit from vocational and education support. Setting up appointments and managing your own caseload of young people. Facilitating group workshops, vocational programmes, and drop‑in sessions. Working alongside the Community Development Coordinator to ensure the programme reaches the young people who need it most. Receiving professional and operational supervision from the Team Leader. About You Background in youth work, education, employment services, social work, or similar, with demonstrated experience supporting young people in vocational pathways. Strong communicator who can build trust and rapport with young people. Adaptable, flexible, and a quick learner, ready to help young people navigate their next steps in work, study, and life. Passionate about helping young people gain confidence in employment, education, and life skills. Understanding of the challenges young people face, particularly in relation to mental health and wellbeing. Experienced in facilitating group work.
