Automation Industries is seeking a detail-oriented Metering Communications Technician with a strong focus on data, networking, and system integration. About the Role As a Metering Communications Technician, you will be responsible for configuring, testing, and commissioning metering and communications equipment across various projects. This role requires strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work with data systems and protocols. Key Responsibilities Commission and configure electricity, water, gas, and thermal meter communications. Set up and troubleshoot communications networks. Integrate wired and wireless metering systems into data platforms and building automation systems. Validate data accuracy and ensure reliable connectivity between devices and platforms. Maintain commissioning documentation, inspection test plans, and QA records. Liaise with project teams to ensure timely commissioning and handover. Provide remote and on-site support for troubleshooting and service calls. Assist with minor installation tasks when required. Regular short-term travel to project sites for commissioning and support. Requirements Desirable Technical qualification in Electronics, Instrumentation, Mechatronics, or Networking . Ability to configure and troubleshoot metering and communication devices. Ability in troubleshooting connectivity issues. Excellent documentation and reporting skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks. Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel regularly for short-term assignments. Must have a basic set of hand tools suitable for commissioning and minor installation or repair tasks. Experience with metering systems or building automation platforms. Familiarity with Microsoft Teams/SharePoint and Azure cloud-based data systems. Experience with networking fundamentals such as IP addressing, basic routing, VPN configuration. Understanding of data protocols and networking (eg TCP/IP, Modbus, BACnet).
