Assistant Chief Officer (RFS State Operations) (FSCSI) RFS Qld Specialist Services Purpose: The State Operations Directorate provides shared organisational and specialist capabilities to enhance cooperation across QFD operations before, during, and after emergencies. RFS Qld Specialist Services works with Qld FRS Specialist Services to ensure consistency and continuity within Aviation Coordination Management, Incident Prevention and Preparedness Management, Operational Incident Response and Recovery Management, and relevant training. Required Lead and manage QFD Incident Management Capabilities in cooperation with other State Operations Directorate branches. Develop and enhance the QFD Aviation Capability in conjunction with the Director Qld FRS Specialist Services. Establish and maintain strategic partnerships to ensure coordinated statewide operations and safe delivery of services. Ensure all activities support the business models for operational incident management and aviation capability. Mandatory requirements Must meet the mandatory requirements and attributes outlined in the generic RFSQ Chief Superintendent role description. Highly desirable requirements Knowledge and experience of the incident management system aligned to the National AIIMS framework and/or coordination centre management principles. Special requirements Appointed as SFCC State Coordinator on a rotational basis. Primary duties Responsibilities Lead and manage the development of incident management capabilities for QFD, ensuring safe and effective management of fires and emergencies. Oversee Public Information and Warnings processes to support response coordination. Contribute to management of the operations centre supporting command and control of events. Lead and coordinate strategic and operational planning for aviation services across the department. Provide expert liaison, consultation, and negotiation with other directorates, agencies, industry bodies, community groups, and private sector providers. Lead innovation, research, and development initiatives and evaluate programs to support operational services and departmental objectives. Additional information Applicants should ideally hold the rank of substantive Chief Superintendent, RFSQ; Superintendents (FSPRI) with appropriate skills are encouraged to apply. Volunteers and external parties with suitable skills are encouraged to apply. Incumbents may be required to travel within their area and undertake intrastate or interstate deployment. This is a day work position but may require flexible hours, including nights and weekends. Incumbents will participate in a professional development program.
