Community Liaison Officer - Perth For over 150 years, our schools, colleges, early learning centres and out of school care programs, have been an integral part of education in Western Australia. Together we form the state's second-largest education provider, with more than 83,000 students relying on our nearly 14,000 dedicated staff each day. The Role The role of Community Liaison Officer belongs to the First Nations Education team in the Teaching and Learning directorate. We have 5 office campuses across the state and this role will be based at our West Leederville office. We have 2 full-time fixed term positions commencing January 2026 and concluding 31 December 2026. This role is designed to support school leadership to work collaboratively with schools and First Nations communities to build authentic partnerships, increasing enrolment of First Nations students in Catholic education and support schools to work toward cultural responsiveness. The primary accountabilities of the role include: Support school and system initiatives aligned with CECWA's Strategic Initiatives and Quality Catholic Education. Support the Teaching and Learning Directorate strategic focus areas including the Vision for Learning aimed at ensuring high expectations in First Nations education. Support schools with initiating and developing strategies to embed the bold goals within the First Nations Education Strategy. Develop and deliver parent workshops and information sessions to support parent engagement that affirms identity and supports high expectation conversations between school and home. Collaborate with schools to establish effective partnerships with families and local First Nations community to strengthen school-community relationships. Support Principals/Line Managers with the First Nations Teaching Assistant on‑boarding. Collaborate with First Nations Education Consultants to design and deliver Professional Learning for First Nations Teaching Assistants. Work collaboratively with the First Nations Education Consultants with the delivery of cultural competency programs for staff in CEWA offices. Work collaboratively with First Nations Education Consultants and school staff to implement a local First Nations perspective across the curriculum. Encourage Community membership for CEWA's First Nations Education Consultative Committees. Contribute to reports, submissions, briefings and correspondence on matters relating to First Nations education as required. Other duties as directed by the Team Leader, First Nations Education and Director, Teaching and Learning. Selection Criteria ESSENTIAL: Prepared to support the Catholic ethos in the performance of their duties. Understanding of First Nations communities of Western Australia, their cultures, histories and stories. Highly developed written, oral communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to maintain accurate and comprehensive written reports. Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively, both in person and remotely. Capacity to develop and maintain strong professional links with staff. Demonstrated ability to design and deliver along with co‑facilitating professional learning to adult learners that supports First Nations education. Highly developed capacity to innovate, analyse, problem solve and develop creative solutions to emerging issues with a focus on improving First Nations student outcomes. Be able to contribute to the effective operations of Catholic Education Office of WA. Capacity to work as a positive and supportive member of the First Nations Education team. HIGHLY DESIRABLE: Knowledge of the operation of Catholic schools in Western Australia.
