An exciting opportunity has become available for a motivated and detail‑oriented Buyer (Procurement Specialist) to join the team on a permanent, full‑time basis at Walkinshaw Group. Reporting to the Procurement Manager – Direct , this role will play a key part in supporting Walkinshaw’s sourcing and procurement activities. You will act as a crucial interface between Procurement, Engineering, and Program Management, ensuring that goods and services are sourced effectively to meet cost, quality, and timing objectives. About the Role As a Buyer , you will be responsible for identifying, sourcing, and managing the supply of direct materials and services critical to our operations. You’ll work collaboratively across teams to support new vehicle and product programs, maintain supplier relationships, and ensure procurement excellence across all stages of the sourcing process. Key Responsibilities: Develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of your assigned Direct Material Commodity, including the supply base, cost drivers, and supply chain risks Collaborate closely with the Engineering and Program Management teams to execute sourcing strategies for future model programs Ensure suppliers adhere to key purchasing milestones and deliverables throughout the sourcing process Manage and process purchase orders for tooling, prototype components, consumables, and other materials Negotiate, develop, and execute contracts and supply agreements for goods and services Maintain strong supplier and internal stakeholder relationships Act as the escalation point for supplier‑related issues, including payment, quality, and delivery concerns Undertake additional responsibilities as required to support management objectives About You To succeed in this role, you will bring strong analytical, commercial, and interpersonal skills, combined with the ability to balance technical and business considerations in a fast‑paced environment. Qualifications and Skills: Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience) 2+ years of automotive industry experience (highly desirable) Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; experience with INFOR / BAAN ERP systems highly desirable Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across teams Analytical and objective decision‑making, with confidence presenting to leadership Appreciation of technical, logistical, and manufacturing processes in addition to commercial factors Professional, assertive, and adaptable with a proactive, solutions‑focused mindset Why Join Walkinshaw?
