Staff Pty Ltd is a proudly Australian, family-owned tipper manufacturer with nearly fifty years' industry experience. From their Somerton workshop they design, build and certify bespoke tipper bodies and trailers for demanding transport customers. Responsibilities Prepare detailed 2D and 3D fabrication drawings for bespoke tippers, trailers and related components. Convert SolidWorks models into workshop-ready drawings and DXF files for cutting, folding and fabrication. Develop proposal and assembly drawings for customer approval in consultation with sales, engineering and production teams. Interpret sketches, specifications and R&D concepts, translating them into practical designs meeting company standards. Prepare builders' works and installation drawings supporting fit-out of new equipment on customer vehicles. Compile preliminary materials lists and bills of materials to support quoting, purchasing and production planning. Assist Mechanical Engineers in selecting appropriate components, tools and equipment for each engineering project. Estimate material quantities and machine requirements for new builds, repairs and modification projects. Ensure all drawings and designs comply with relevant standards, PBS requirements and internal quality procedures. Maintain drawing libraries and documentation, ensuring version control and data integrity across active projects. Undertake occasional site visits to verify dimensions, capture as-built information and resolve design issues. Collect and analyse technical data, performing necessary calculations and preparing clear diagrams for review. Support inspection, testing and commissioning activities to confirm performance of mechanical systems and equipment. Collaborate closely with production teams, providing timely clarifications and design updates during manufacturing. Qualifications Solid experience preparing mechanical fabrication drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD for heavy vehicles, tippers, trailers or comparable equipment. Proven background working closely with engineers and production teams, converting concepts and R&D files into accurate, buildable designs. Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials and manufacturing processes relevant to transport equipment and heavy fabrication environments. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple drafting projects simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines and maintaining high drawing quality. Experience preparing bills of materials, materials lists and technical documentation to support purchasing, production planning and quality assurance processes. Confident conducting site measurements, checking installation clearances and resolving design issues directly with internal stakeholders and customers. Familiarity with applicable engineering standards, safety in design principles and compliance frameworks such as CE, PBS or similar. Excellent communication skills, attention to detail and willingness to work independently or collaboratively within a fast-paced workshop setting.
