Company Description Permanent Position | Structured 12-Month Training Program An exciting opportunity awaits veterinarians ready to take their next step into Emergency and Critical Care. AEC Woolloongabba is a purpose‑built, state‑of‑the‑art emergency and critical care hospital in central Brisbane. The facility has been designed with space, flow, and learning in mind, creating the ideal environment for vets looking to advance their ECC skills in a structured, supportive setting. Hospital Features Ten modern consult rooms Three fully equipped surgical theatres A purpose‑built ICU ward Advanced diagnostic imaging, including CT, X‑ray, ultrasound, and endoscopy In‑house laboratory Dedicated dental suite Spacious waiting area for clients with a tea and coffee station Ample on‑site parking The Program This is a permanent full‑time position with a structured 12‑month training program in Emergency and Critical Care. You will be employed as an ECC Veterinarian from day one, receiving intensive mentorship and guided learning throughout your first year. You will be fully supported by experienced emergency clinicians while building strong foundations in triage, stabilisation, surgery, anaesthesia, imaging, and case management. As part of the program, you will : Work 64 hours per fortnight on a rotating roster under the supervision of senior ECC vets Receive 12 hours of paid, protected education time per fortnight Complete AEC induction modules for recent graduates Participate in shadow shifts to understand hospital and shift management Take part in Wet‑Prac’s and network‑wide educational sessions Attend the annual Greencross Clinical Conference Who We Are Looking For This program is designed specifically for veterinarians who have completed at least 12 months of post‑graduate general practice experience. That first year in general practice gives you the foundation you need to succeed in ECC: confidence in consultations, basic surgical skills, time management, and client communication. It means you have seen enough to know how you think, how you work under pressure, and how to keep calm when the unexpected happens. If you have reached that stage and are ready for a steep but rewarding learning curve, this program is for you.
