Wathaurong Aboriginal Co-Operative – Geelong VIC Make a real difference to the local community Full‑Time, Ongoing Access to Salary Packaging Role Overview The Practice Lead is a key leadership role within the Social & Emotional Wellbeing program that provides a broad range of functions to support, develop and oversee the clinical and psychosocial support practice across all Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) program areas. The Social and Emotional Wellbeing Program (SEWB) Our work is underpinned by the Aboriginal Social and Emotional Wellbeing Framework, as described in the Victorian Aboriginal Social and Emotional Wellbeing Framework – Balit Murrup 2017‑2027. We support Community Members in building their self‑determination to meet their individual wellbeing goals. SEWB programs provide culturally appropriate support to Community members within the Wathaurong catchment described above: Intake & Assessment services Social and Emotional Wellbeing support Alcohol and other drugs (AOD) treatment and support Bring them home (BTH) support services to members of the Stolen Generation Group work (Men’s and Women’s Groups) Psychology, Neuropsychology and Counselling services Public Intoxication Response service Cultural Care Connect service to community members at risk of suicide. External partnerships About You Degree level qualification in Social Work, Nursing, Health, AHP, Psychology, or other relevant area. Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in a Health, Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) or Drug and Alcohol service delivery environment (or other relevant area), in a leadership, direct care or clinical capacity. Experience or demonstrated capability to provide practice leadership, clinical governance, consultation and practice supervision for team members in a SEWB, Health or Community Service environment. Demonstrated experience and skills in supporting the growth and professional development of staff and students. Knowledge and understanding of challenges which may impact the mental health of Aboriginal community members including trauma and intergenerational trauma, cultural identity, homelessness and substance abuse. Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to develop positive stakeholder relationships and communicate with diverse individuals at all levels. Strong written and verbal communication skills with a high level of accuracy. Ability to work effectively and cooperatively as part of a team. Ability to engage and motivate staff. Knowledge of safe and appropriate culturally centred practices for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander focused services, including employment of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people. Demonstrated understanding of social, physical, economical, and cultural strengths and challenges affecting Aboriginal communities and their ability to access adequate and quality services. Understanding of the purpose and expectations of the Victorian Child Safe Standards and demonstrated commitment to contributing to a child safe organisation in both practice and culture. Registration as Health Professional with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA). Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations. A police check, Working with Children Check, and current Driver Licence are required for all positions.
