A key focus will be providing guidance and professional support to teachers in making informed decisions about curriculum content and pedagogical approaches, with an emphasis on effective strategies for early years education. This position will be engaged under Education Officer (Special Duties) (EOSD) conditions. Further details are provided in the attached fact sheet. About The Role The Principal Advisor Early Years plays a vital role in strengthening teaching and learning outcomes across the early years by supporting the understanding of the alignment of the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines to the Australian Curriculum. Working collaboratively with school leadership teams, the role delivers professional learning, models effective age‑appropriate pedagogies, and provides expert guidance to teachers in using evidence‑based tools and data to improve educational outcomes for children from kindergarten to Year 2. A key focus is on ensuring high‑quality teaching practices that support smooth transitions to school and continuity of learning from birth to eight years. The role also contributes to the development and coordination of strategic early childhood initiatives, liaising with key personnel, teachers and stakeholders to ensure curriculum planning meets the diverse needs of all learners. Through coaching, mentoring and data‑informed practice, the position will support schools in driving improvement in child and student learning outcomes and strengthening alignment between early childhood and school settings. The ideal candidate will hold current teacher registration with the Queensland College of Teachers and demonstrate a strong understanding of early years curriculum, pedagogy and assessment. An early childhood qualification that meets ACECQA requirements will be highly regarded, reflecting the importance of a strong pedagogical foundation in the kindergarten setting and supporting continuity through to Prep and beyond. Your Responsibilities In collaboration with leadership team, deliver professional learning and guidance to teachers in the implementation of evidence‑based age‑appropriate pedagogies in the early years (K‑2). Model effective age‑appropriate pedagogies and their accompanying practices and strategies in classrooms. Provide guidance and advice to teachers in planning and using the evidence‑based tools (such as the state‑wide approach to transition to school). Strong collaboration, communication and leadership skills, together with the ability to build teacher capability and foster positive partnerships, will be key to success in this role.
